Now more than ever consumers seem to be focused on sustainability and making choices that not only benefit themselves but also the planet. The term “eco-friendly” has crept into so many different categories: household cleaning, automotive, appliances, energy, the list goes on. But what does the term really mean, what does it mean in laundry and what does it mean to a brand like HEX?
Eco-friendly products, practices and services are meant to have a lower impact on the environment than traditional products, practices and services. Eco-friendly has many different applications in the laundry category. It should be considered when talking about the entire operation: from packaging and supply chain to ingredient sourcing and production. At HEX, we certainly consider ways to be more environmentally friendly at every step of the process.
Eco-Friendly Packaging
At HEX, every single bottle and cap you see on shelf is 100% recyclable. In fact, we’ve made changes recently so that our Eco Pack can be 100% recycled just like our other products. The box and cap can be recycled as you normally would and the plastic bag inside can be dropped at local grocery stores as a #4 recycling code. This product provides value to the consumer, in the bigger pack size, all while remaining environmentally friendly in the process.
Eco-Friendly Supply Chain
HEX is proud to be born and raised in Baltimore, MD and proud to be manufactured in the USA. We have no plans to change that. We keep our business local. The majority of filling production is done locally (right down the street from our offices in Baltimore!). We are always looking for ways to keep business in close proximity to limit unnecessary freight.
Eco-Friendly Ingredients
Our product pours like water - we’ve been tricked to believe thicker is better, when that’s not actually the case. The thicker the solution, the more difficult it is to penetrate your clothes and actually clean them! At HEX, we clean without the use of thickeners, dyes, phosphates, SLS, parabens, or fragrance encapsulants – these are all chemicals that traditional detergents use to cut corners and cut costs. Fragrance encapsulants don’t do anything except mask odors - at HEX we actually eliminate the odors at their source. You never have to worry about the ingredients we use. Additionally, our products are ultra concentrated compared to mainstream laundry detergents. You only need to use a little to get the most impact. No excess use of anything (including water!) here…
As a brand in the laundry space, we know we have a responsibility to protect consumers, their families and our plant to the best of our ability. We will never stop looking for ways to be a little more gentle with the only planet we have.
